How your result is calculated
Net WPM is your word count (characters divided by 5) minus wrong words, divided by minutes. Accuracy is correct words divided by all words. You qualify only when both targets are met. Numbers, dates and capitalized names count as correct, and English words are checked against a 275,000 word dictionary.
Tips to reach 35 WPM
- Put accuracy first. Every wrong word is deducted from your net speed.
- Keep a steady rhythm instead of bursts followed by corrections.
- Look at the screen, not the keys, and keep your wrists relaxed.
- Check the Words to check list after each session and drill those words.
- Practice a little every day. Read more in our typing speed guide.

Frequently asked questions
What speed do I need in this SSC CHSL English practice test?
This practice test uses 35 net WPM and 95% accuracy as the targets. Confirm the official requirement in the recruitment notification, because rules can change.
Do numbers and capital letters count as mistakes?
Numbers, dates and capitalized names are counted as correct words automatically, so you are not penalised for names or figures.
Can I practice for the full test length?
Yes. The real test is typically 10 minutes, and the SSC CHSL page opens with that length selected. You can switch between Freeform, 5, 10 and 15 minutes above the typing box before you start.
Official marking rules differ by exam and notification. This tool deducts wrong words from your speed, which is a simplified version of real marking, so treat results as practice guidance. Typing Test by Dublesh is an independent practice tool and is not affiliated with SSC, RRB, UP Police or any recruitment board. Targets are practice benchmarks: always confirm requirements in the official notification.
